Longlevens travelled to Wootton Bassett and returned with a convincing 38–7 victory, a result built on dominance up front, relentless territory pressure, and a defence that held firm for almost the entire contest.

The Griffins opened the match with complete control of possession and field position, spending the first 25 minutes camped in Bassett territory. That pressure told, with Longlevens moving into a deserved 12–0 lead through well-constructed phases and a solid platform from the pack. The lineout drive in particular proved profitable, repeatedly putting Bassett on the back foot and creating the momentum the side needed.

Despite the dominance, Longlevens were guilty of letting several scoring opportunities slip away—handling errors and dropped passes stalling multiple promising attacks. High-tackle penalties also crept in, gifting Bassett relief in moments where the Griffins were otherwise in complete command.

Bassett’s only score came on the final play of the first half, narrowing the gap but doing little to shift the momentum of the match. That try proved to be their last of the afternoon, as Longlevens’ defence tightened and remained largely effective throughout the second period.

After the restart, the Griffins rediscovered their rhythm, sharpening up their execution and taking more of the chances they created. Continued dominance at the set piece and another strong showing from the forward pack kept Bassett under constant pressure, allowing Longlevens to pull away on the scoreboard and close out a comprehensive away performance.

In the end, the 38–7 result was not only deserved but a valuable confidence boost for the squad. While improvements can still be made—particularly in discipline and taking opportunities—this was a strong statement win on the road and a performance the Griffins can build on moving forward.
