In the last friendly game before the new league season starts for the 2s on 4th October, Levens headed down to Lydney for a Friday night game under the lights.

The tone of the game was evident from the first whistle as lots of big tackles were being put in by both teams. After a good defensive shift from both teams, Longlevens were the first to score after a grubber kick through by Ed Glanville, Elliot Norwood gathered and went over to score but the conversion was missed by Ed, his only miss from the tee in the game.

Lydney managed to get on top after a drop in momentum by Longlevens to score two quick tries bringing the score to 14-5. However before half time Longlevens managed to get a try back after a few pick and goes on the try line, Tom Carpenter rode a few tackles to crash over to score, Ed Glanville with the conversion. Half time score 14-12.

Not long after half time Lydney managed to score another try. After a scrum, Lydney’s number eight picked and went, offloaded to the winger to go over and score but crucially the conversion was missed so Longlevens were still within one score.

With 15 minutes to go Longlevens levelled the score with a try from Coby Wynn. Longlevens were on top but a few errors meant that chances created were missed. Finally Longlevens got the winning try after Matt Fatica went over in the corner to score, score was now 26-19 with 5 minutes left to play.

For the last 5 minutes Lydney were camped inside the Longlevens 22 but due to a fantastic defensive shift from the team, they managed to keep Lydney from scoring and see out the game.
