Longlevens Ruby 2nds hosted Matson RFC 2nds. After their last outing against second place Cheltenham Saracens RFC  Longlevens were looking to build on their performance and come out the right side of the result.


Longlevens started well after a nice break from Zak Oliver who drew in the full back to offload to hooker Fred McGhee to score under the posst the best possible start for Longlevens 7-0 inside first 5 minutes.


Longlevens looked good for the next 10 minutes but small errors at crucial times meant they could not add to the early score. The last 20 minutes of the half longlevens were left defending their own line with Matson using their big pack to good effect. Longlevens held Matson out from several attacks and went into half time 7-0 ahead.


Longlevens got the first score of the second half through the boot of Zak Oliver 10-0 making the score.


Matson pressure soon told when they managed to get over the line themselves 10-5.


Longlevens knew that had to score next to stop any Matson momentum and after a kick was fielded my full back James Moseley he offloaded to winger Jaiden Vance who made a break and was tackled just short of the line, he offloaded to second row Rob Hanman to score in the corner with a great conversion leaving the score 17-5.


Longlevens now confident and spinning the ball around but it was a Matson mistake on their own line that allowed Longlevens there next score, with the Matson (10 dropping the ball for Steffan Ciocirlan to dive on the ball and confirm the win 24-5.


With 5 minutes to go Matson put all their efforts into the game and managed a try with the last play, 24-12 final score and a good win for the Longlevens Rugby 2nds.


On to next week where the 2nds play Old Cryptians RFC a place above Longlevens in the league looking to catch them up. A win is needed if Longlevens want to move up the league table.
