Longlevens welcomed Dragon All Stars for the first home game of the season and first since the World Cup triumph in June.

Longlevens had a lot of the ball from the start but couldn’t make the chances count. Following a penalty given away by Dragons, Zack Fisher kicked to the corner, and from the resulting line out, the ball was shipped out to Connor Scantlebury to go over in the corner to score, however conversion was missed.

This woke Dragons up and they came back at Longlevens hard, and finally a break in the Longlevens defence allowed the Dragons number eight to go over and score, which was converted. Longlevens did manage to get the next try, with Zack going over and converting his own try. However just before half time, Dragons managed to get a try back but crucially the conversion was missed so the teams went into half time at 12-12.

The weather changed in the second half and a lot more rain came down which led to mistakes from both teams as they were both chasing the win. Longlevens managed to get the next try, after a clearance kick by Dragons, Connor picked up the ball and ran past a couple of defenders to go under the posts and score with Paul Thomas getting the conversion. Dragons did manage to get a try after an interception from their centre but the conversion was missed meaning Longlevens were still in the lead.

After a few tense moments in which Dragons nearly scored again, Longlevens managed to hold on and win 19-17.

A fantastic game against a strong opponent in Dragons! Our next fixture next Saturday against Worcester.
