Longlevens endured a tough afternoon on the road as they fell to a heavy 52–0 defeat against a well-drilled Trowbridge side. From the outset, the hosts dominated territory and possession, capitalising on defensive lapses and missed first-up tackles to run in a series of well-taken tries.
It was a frustrating day for Longlevens, who struggled to establish any attacking rhythm and rarely threatened the Trowbridge line. Their set-piece showed glimpses of promise, but handling errors and a lack of composure in key areas prevented them from building sustained pressure.
Defensively, Longlevens were made to pay for missed tackles and lapses in concentration, allowing Trowbridge to build momentum and exploit space out wide. Despite the scoreline, there was no shortage of effort, but the side’s lack of cohesion, a result of ongoing injuries and inconsistent availability, was evident throughout the contest.
With a long injury list continuing to disrupt team selection, these are certainly testing times for Longlevens. However, the squad has already shown this season that, when at full strength, they are capable of competing with and beating any side in the league. With greater consistency in selection and availability, there is every reason to believe that winning ways will return.
Next week, at home to Chippenham, offers a valuable opportunity to regroup, refocus, and get back to the standards the team has set for itself.
