Longlevens Rugby second team travelled to Tewkesbury RFC to play their 2nd team for the 2nd time this season, and in a repeat of the game before Longlevens pace caused the big Tewkesbury side problems and every time Longlevens had the ball they looked like scoring. There was early score for Jake Fox from a cross field kick from Ben Furley, 2 length of the field scores for Mike Yorke followed leaving levens 19-0 up, Tewkesbury began using there big forwards now which resulted in Longlevens giving away a lot of penalty’s resulting in 2 yellow cards allowing Tewkesbury to get on the board, leaving score 19-5. The game plan was still same for levens even with men in the bin and scores followed for Jack Robbins and a further 2 for Jake Fox before Tewksbury got a score of their own before half time leaving the score 29-10.
The second half now up to full compliment, Levens continued to look dangerous with further scores, 2 for Fred McGhee before an injury to Tewkesbury player meaning we had to swap pitch leaving the score 58-10. Tewkesbury now had a a decent bit of possession largely again to Levens discipline problems which resulted in the score getting to 65-22. The last ten minutes a length of the field score for Jack Robbins sapped the energy from Tewkesbury and further scores including one for Ben Furley left the final score 86-22. Credit must go to Tewkesbury, as the score line flattered Longlevens and they gave them a better game than the score line suggests.
A lot of defensive works on for levens to be better disciplined as 5 yellow cards in a game for infringements in another game will be costly, but after 2 weeks without a game it was good to get back to it with another positive result.
