Longlevens Rugby 7 v 27 Egg Chasers.

On a wet and windy Longford Lane Longlevens Rugby vets entertained the Egg Chasers, a side dedicated to playing rugby in a traditional spirt. Also raining money and awareness for MNDA and the Crispy` trust

Longlevens old boys started like a train, with surging runs into the Egg Chasers territory putting their defence under a lot of pressure which resulted in a series of penalties. A kick to the corner, a drive from the line-out saw the impressive Longlevens number eight Jake Kitson drive over for the opening try, with extras kicked by Dan Wilton. This stirred the Egg Chase into action, with a very large pack they put the Longlevens forwards under increasing in the scrums and their defensive line. Egg Chasers did manage to breach the home sides line, taking a first half lead. But with Longlevens players having stern team talk by captain Mike Hedley-Ward, started the second half strong without troubling the scorer. Once again, the Egg Chasers hit back wearing down a tiring defensive line, scoring a couple of well worked tries  to win the game. The final score 7-27 was well deserved by the visitors. The home side on their first outing of the season will be encouraged by their gritty display. There were some notable performances, from Andrew Royce who worked hard in in the loose, Steve Davies who put himself about, father and son combination Rich and Chris Yorke who both worked tirelessly all game. At the final whistle both teams retired to the clubhouse, to enjoy the hospitality, and raise a glass to the sadly departed Mike Crisp RIP
