Longlevens Colts hosted Drybrook Colts the game having to played at Oxstalls due to pitch unavailability after the recent weather. It was both teams first game for a while due to postponements and cancellations. Drybrook travelled with a depleted squad but credit to them for still coming with the squad they did.

Longlevens made an excellent start to the game scoring the first try with in 5 mins, continued pressure from the forwards didn’t allow Drybrook out of there 22’ wasn’t long till Longlevens had a 2nd try after a storming run from Evan Smith. with luxury of playing on a dry 3G pitch this allowed Longlevens to use the ball and play in the wide channels, thus scoring the pick of the tries a well worked move from the backs added further points on the board. Drybrook continued to try and get back in the game but a strong defensive line from Longlevens kept the score to zero. Longlevens turned over the ball in the middle of the park and managed to use the wide channels again to score the 4th try. Halftime 26-0.

Longlevens reshuffled the pack and a few changes to backline.

Drybrook started the stronger of the 2 sides but couldn’t turn the advantage in to points.

Longlevens regrouped and switched back on and put more points on the board running in the 5th try. Credit to Drybrook they continued to keep pressure on Longlevens but mistakes and a strong defence allowed Longlevens to run in their 6th and 7th try. the game opened up with mistakes from both teams through lack of match fitness. Longlevens 8th try was a loose ball picked up from our own 22 allowed sub Joe Rakaseta to run in under the posts. with mins left on the board a mistake from Drybrook allowed Longlevens to pick up and recycle the ball running in the 9th and last try.

The score line didn’t reflect the commitment and determination from Drybrook they gave Longlevens a good game especially travelling over to Longlevens with the squad low on numbers.

Final score 57-0
