Longlevens colts welcomed Cirencester colts to Longford Lane looking to bounce back after last weekends loss in the national cup, we welcomed an inform Cirencester team currently sitting top of the league 3/3 and on 15 points.
Levens like the last few game were missing a few players due to school commitments/work/ injuries and sleepovers!
Tom Hedeker made his colts debut and Tyrese Grant / Oakleigh Roe made their first starts of the season.
The game started with a midfield battle with neither team giving each other time on the ball. First points came about from Cirencester penalty! the game was still being played at a pace neither team could find the breakthrough the odd handling errors costing teams looking to make gains into the 22’ , Cirencester added further points from a penalty, levens penalised for not releasing, as the 1st half got going levens started to find holes in the Cirencester defence, Cirencester were penalised at the breakdown Hedeker slotted over to bring the game 3-6, further pressure and putting Cirencester on the back foot allowed Levens to kick to the corner and only a last ditch tackle the ball was held up over the line.
Cirencester regained moment and pushing Levens back resulting in a yellow card for illegal tackle. Levens held firm with no real pressure from Cirencester did they look like conceding, back to full numbers levens continued the break the cirencester line only to lose the ball as it was being grounded halftime 3-6.
Like most weeks levens never came out the 2nd half alert conceding a numerous of penalties Cirencester weren’t able to add to their tally. A few stop starts and multiple substitutions for Cirencester, Levens started to work up the pitch and good defence work kept them at bay but some neat passing in the midfield and line break from Prop Morris allowed levens the first try conversion successful 10-6 ,levens continued to pressure the Cirencester defence, Levens having made substitutes and players re jigging positions, started to gain control soaking up any attacks and stopping Cirencester progressing up the field, with stop start due to injuries Levens stayed focus and some quick passing from Roe allowed Hosken to power through and score under the posts conversion successful 17-6 final score.
The unbeaten run in the league continues!
