Longlevens Rugby 2nds welcomed Painswick RFC to Longford Lane looking to build on last weekend’s away win at Minchampton.
The game started with the first 10 minutes being scrappy but Longlevens were keeping Painswick camped in their own 22m but dropped balls and loose passes meant they did not capitalise.
The first try soon come after finally getting some phases, and nice handling from fly half Zak Oliver, and centre Ben Furley allowed centre Sam Oliver to slide in at the corner 5-0
From the restart the experienced Mark Hancock who again led from the front caught the ball and making good ground, the ball found its way to the returning full back Tom Evans who used his pace to get on the outside and offloaded to winger Ollie Kemp to score under the posts converted by Zak Oliver.
Longlevens were now playing with confidence and again from the restart the ball found its way to Tom Evans who once again used his pace this time to get on the score sheet himself converted again by Zak Oliver 19-0
Longlevens were now finding holes in the Painswick defence and another try soon followed this time for replacement Elliot Fortey who was putting a good shift in at prop converted again by Zak Oliver 26-0.
There were two more scores in the first half the first for heavy weight second row Tom Denby from a nicely worked penalty move, and the final score of the half was for the impressive Tom Evans leaving half time 40-0.
Second half the intention was to keep playing with tempo and to stop Painswick from scoring and to Longlevens credit they kept the score board ticking without conceding.
First score and his hattrick was for Tom Evans. Then there was two score for the impactful Andrew Kilby who came on to replace the captain ever green Martin Deacon.
There were 3 more tries scored in the final 20 minutes first for Ben Furley, a fourth for Tom Evans and the final score of the game was a second for Ollie Kemp.
A good day for Longlevens who kept the ball live in wet conditions and played some nice rugby to build confidence. Next up Tewkesbury with Longlevens looking to make it 3 wins in a row.
