Longlevens Rugy 2nds hosted Ross on Wye RFC  looking for back to back victories and looking to make it two wins from three games.

The game started very slowly for Longlevens and Ross went into a deserved 13-0 lead inside 20 mins after two penalties and a well worked try off a line out down the blind side after winger Jaden Vance was yellow carded for a high tackle this left space for the Ross hooker to slide into the corner for a unconverted try.

Stand in captain Sam Oliver rallied the team and told them to get back to shape and structure and for the next 20 mins of the half Longlevens did exactly this spinning the ball using their pacey backs.

The first score for Longlevens on 25 minutes come from a good play with the ball going across the backline eventually allowing William Fortey some space to slide in for Levens first try converted by Zak Oliver.

Longlevens we’re now believing in themselves and playing how they know they can and the next score soon followed after a scrum against the head allowed the ball to go through the hands and Jaden Vance slid in the corner impressively, again converted my Zak Oliver Longlevens were in the lead for the first time 14-13.

There was time for Longlevens to get one more score before half time and it was well worked with the ball going from one touchline to another before finding its way to Carlos Jenkins to get his first score leaving the half time score 19-13.

Half time was all about forgetting the first 20 minutes and concentrating on how we had played for the second 20 minutes.

The first score of the half soon followed and Ross were now starting to struggle with the pace of Longlevens, off the top of a lineout the ball was put through the hands allowing winger Jaden Vance in to score his second and Levens fourth score converted by Zak Oliver 26-13.

Ross was next on the score again using their big forwards to get into position allowing a big forward to go into the corner leaving the score 26-18 leaving Ross a score behind.

To Levens credit they never panicked and kept playing how they had been and this resulted in second score for Carlos Jenkins. 31-18.

The last 10 minutes was scrappy from a lose kick Longlevens found themselves under pressure with Ross pressuring the Longlevens line the impressive Jack Muncaster turned over the ball on our own line before the ball was spun wide and Carlos Jenkins finished the game off running the length of the field and scoring under the post for his hattrick try, leaving the final score 38-18.

With both the first and thirds getting victory’s away from home all three sides got victories on Saturday leaving a great day for the club, it’s a credit to all players that we fielded 3 sides and accomplishing 3 convincing victories.
