Longlevens Rugby 2nds knew this was going to be the one of the hardest games in the league this season and that was how it proved, Longlevens started the game well stopping Tigers attack and kept them in their own half, after several penalties a good catch and drive set up by Longlevens resulted in a good break by jack Holford who offloaded to Euen Williams for first try of the game converted by Ben Furley. From the restart a knock on allowed Tigers possession which resulted in a penalty in front of the posts score 7-3.
Longlevens responded well and another catch and drive, Euen Williams made a break and offloaded to Jacob Holman Jones to score 14-3. Good pressure continued and a penalty in front of the post allowed Longlevens to go 14-3 with 5 minutes of half to play.
Lost restart again allowed Tigers possession and their big number 8 ran down the touchline to score leaving half time score 17-10.
It was a good first half for Longlevens and we’re playing well but second half full credit to Cheltenham who got there big runners on the ball with the 5 and 8 two big ball carriers who were putting Longlevens on the back foot the first score of the half soon come and the score was now 17-15 to levens.
Longlevens got some good ball and got back into the lead when another well set lineout drive, and the ball was moved wide to Jadian Vance to score in the corner 22-15 with 15 mins gone of the second half.
Unfortunately the last 25 minutes Longlevens had injuries which disrupted shape and full credit to Tigers Longlevens could not contain them and they scored 4 tries with the final score finishing a flattering 47-22 to the Tigers.
All is not lost with the result.. It was a good learning curve for a young Longlevens side and with 4 games still to play winning all 4 will still win them the league.
