Longlevens Rugby 2nd team hosted Gloucester Old Boys RFC looking to get their season back on track after 2 losses. It’s been a frustrating month for the seconds with games being cancelled and due to teams pulling out the league and a lot of free weekends.

This game was to be a test against top the table old boys. Longlevens with a few changes due to unavailability went back to basics and had old boys frustrated for large parts due to a strong defensive display, a try for old boys 5 minutes from half time gave them a 7-0 half time lead.

Half time was about the same defensive effort and being more composed with the ball. Longlevens had several good opportunities throughout the game but slight mistakes meant they could not find their way over the all-important try line. Old boys scored another try using their big forwards meaning the final score was 14-0 to old boys.

This was a solid display from Longlevens seconds against a strong old boys first team who are full of confidence. More composure in attack and the same defensive commitment the results will come. An impressive return from RAF training from James Moseley and the returning Jack Muncaster great commitment and joint player of the match.

Longlevens face a rearranged game against Cheltenham Saracens this Saturday where they will look for revenge after a narrow last minute defeat against them earlier in the season.
