Longlevens went into the game with a much-changed team and having to change pretty much the whole back line from last week’s win away to Dursley Longlevens knew they had to adapt their game plan against a young fit Hartpury team and this was only emphasised when Hartpury arrived with nearly 2 teams.
The result could have been much more convincing as if you looked at the game Hartpury only made 4 visits to the Longlevens 22 but credit to Hartpury their defence held firm but Longlevens did eventually manage to break their defensive line after 30 minutes after numerous pick and goes from back of the rucks resulted in the impressive Jack Cuthbert getting the only try of the game leaving the score 5-0 to Longlevens.
It was a impressive display from Longlevens with Hartpury fielding 2 teams through the game and Longlevens only having the luxury of 17 players, it was another improved performance and was good to see Longlevens being able to change their game plan from the usual playing the ball wide to their pacy wingers. There were some strong performances throughout the side which was led well by their 2 veteran centres Dan Wilton and Andrew Royce. Longlevens can look forward to another tough game against Cinderford 3rds in the league on Saturday where they will hope to continue their winning run.
