Longlevens Rugby 2nd team made the short trip to Chosen Hill FPRFC 2nds looking to continue the good run in the league.
Longlevens playing up the slope first half went into an early 21-0 lead inside the first 20 minutes. The first score was with the ball going from wing to wing the overlap was created for James Moseley to get his first score under the post 7-0.
The second score was with Longlevens on their own 5 metre line a turnover allowed Mike Yorke to break out from the 22 to 22, the ball was recycled and found it’s was to Liam Murphy to find his way under the post 14-0.
The next score quickly followed and it was Murphy who scored his second 21-0 and Longlevens were playing some of their best rugby so far this season.
The last 15 minutes of the half Chosen Hill used the slope and their big pack to peg Longlevens back into thier own 22, the defence was good but the big chosen pack got over the try line for 2 scores taking advantage of Longlevens being down to 14 men after the unlucky yellow card for Mike Yorke, leaving the half time score 21-14.
With the slope and a 21-14 lead Longlevens were confident second half of finishing off the game, the bonus point score was soon scored inside the first 5 minutes again good phases allowed Ellis Thompson in for his first try for Longlevens.
Chosen then managed to keep Longlevens out for the next 15 minutes with some good defending, but with 10 minutes to go Longlevens got 2 more tries first was a try for Joe Joe Rakasata who used his pace to get on the outside and score in the corner, the last score was a great team try again from kick off Longlevens went through the phases which resulted in the ball going from wing to wing and it was Moseley who was found on the wing to score his second try of the game leaving the score 40-14.
It was a good performance from the griffins which set a marker down for how they could play, with some tough games to come the seconds currently sit 3rd in the league winning 4 games and losing 1.
It’s now onto Widden Old Boys RFC at home on Saturday.
