Our thoughts are with all of you during this difficult time. It’s a terrible shame that such a promising season across all age groups has to be ended, but of course your safety and those of our community is of paramount importance.

We hope that you and your family are safe and well and are following the government advice regarding social distancing closely.

We wanted to give you an update on the situation at Longlevens RFC and our action plan to come out ‘’all systems go’’ once the pandemic passes.

In respect to Longlevens RFC, the entire building is now closed indefinitely until the restrictions are lifted. In respect to our staff, we will utilise the government’s support via the Job Retention Scheme.

We are engaging with Gloucester City Council and other bodies to secure a range of financial support packages.

We also welcome the RFU announcement regarding possible grants and loans. You can see that for yourself here: https://www.englandrugby.com/news/article/an-update-on-covid-19-support-and-planning---bill-sweeney-ceo-rfu

We are particularly keen to embrace the RFU RE:BOOT program. Rugby will be back so Longlevens RFC must be ready. Here are some things you might be interested in:

Remember Why We Love the Game

Keep your eye on our social media accounts where we will publish video and photos from throughout the years just to remind us of what we have to look forward to as players, parents, coaches and spectators.

Keep Playing

Do not give up on the sport! We think Deac’s Week said it best:

‘Get out in the back garden working on the left handed pass, hand-eye ball coordination exercises, throwing balls at a targets. Drape a sheet over the washing line and pass into the sheet, from the floor, or from a feeder. If the garden is not so big, get some soft balls out and work the hands indoors. Kids, watch your Mum’s favourite ornament. Get those balls in the garage pumped up and get passing; great for all dads, sons and daughters’.

Get Stuck Into GMS

If you find a spare 10 minutes why not dive into GMS:

Players – Add a profile picture of you in Longlevens kit and double check your personal details.

Administrators – De-register incorrect players and double check your team’s personal details, merge duplicate accounts, move memberships where necessary (i.e. from the parent to the player), all that good stuff. We have a host of workbooks available online here: https://longlevensrugby.rfu.club/information/gms-guides

Wear the Griffin

We know these are trying times, but every little helps. Longlevens RFC get cash back from all sales from the Raging Bull online shop and they are processing orders for adults and juniors. Orders can be placed now to be dispatched once the restrictions are lifted. Check out the full Longlevens RFC range here: https://www.ragingbullsportswear.com/longlevens-rfc-2

Fundraising

Stay in touch with teammates with apps like Zoom and House Party. Perhaps arrange a quiz or bingo night with your age group as a fundraiser or just a cheeky social.

We look forward to seeing you back in the clubhouse creating new memories with friends and family once this is all over. We have achieved a lot over the years and we still have goals we’d like to reach. We will get through this together.

Look after each other and stay safe.
