After the match last weekend between these 2 teams, there was an expectation of a close hard game and that certainly was the case again.
The first 10 minutes saw both sides attacking the try lines but strong defence stopped any score. The deadlock was broken on 12 minutes with a well executed try from George Butt following relentless pressure and ruck clearing from the Levens forwards. George Butt also converted for the extra 2 points.
Cheltenham attacked hard for the next 15 minutes with numerous 5m penalty moves nearly paying off for a score. However, outstanding defensive from the Longlevens forwards stopped any points being given away. Finally the Cheltenham pressure was too much and following excellent passing in the backs out wide Cheltenham scored a try and conversion.
HT - 7-7.
The second half started similar to the first and honours were even for 20 minutes. Both defences held firm until with 10 minutes to go Cheltenham scored again and converted.
This lifted Longlevens and through 2 Jack Cuthbert tries in the final few minutes following strong running, Longlevens took the result. Conversions added by George Butt and Alfie Newman.
FT Cheltenham Tigers 14-Longlevens 21.
Man of the match goes to Jack Cuthbert for his stong ball carrying and defence plus securing the win with 2 late tries.
